~Presentations for Schools and Libraries*~ Making a Book One Writer-Illustrator’s Process Grade 1 -Adult Ms. Carmichael outlines her writing, illustrating and publishing process from idea to finished book. She offers two different presentations, one on the process of writing, illustrating and publishing her picture books; and another on writing, illustrating and publishing her new novel for young people, Wild Things.
~Workshops*~ Be The Hero Of Your Own Life An Autobiography Workshop for Elementary (grade 3 and up), Middle School & High School Students Students write (and illustrate, if desired) their own life stories.
The Art of Illustration Students try their hand at the illustration process. This three to four-day art workshop lets students experiment with putting words and pictures together, from idea to layout to finished illustration. Grade 3 & up. Tell The Story Inside You A Writing & Illustrating Workshop for Children Suffering Loss A one or more session storytelling workshop for hospice bereavement centers and students dealing with primary losses, such as death or relocation. Ms. Carmichael reads Bear at the Beach, written after the death of her father, and shows students how imaginative storytelling helped her to creatively express and process her own loss. Children who have suffered a loss write and illustrate a simple book about their own experiences. *This is a sampling of present or past workshops & presentations.
